There are few things sweeter than a quick snack on your favourite chairlift. We’re all fond of oat bars for the essential shred energy, but sometimes, we just want a warm, pocket squashed pain au chocolat.

What kind of chairlift snacker are you?

The sweet tooth

Everyone’s best friend on the chairlift, you’ve always got a bag of Haribo stashed somewhere in your jacket to dish out. Smurfs one day, Star Mix the next.

The cereal survivalist

You never leave the house without a cereal bar. Just in case. For you it’s somewhere between a healthy snack and a chocolate bar, the substance you crave to keep hunger at bay between shreds. These’ll last for weeks, so no worry of overstocking your pockets.

The chalet sneak-thief

What’s in your pocket today? Whatever was for breakfast at the chalet, obvs. For most of you, this just means a croissant wrapped in cling-film, but for truly ambitious snackers this can be anything from salopette-scrambled eggs to last night’s tartiflette in a baguette.

The hasty pastry

Danish, croissant, pain au chocolat, apple turnover. It’s all good. Scoffing down a tasty pastry from the boulangerie on the chairlift is your favourite, and best of all, you can quickly brush off the evidence before you get to the top. So why not have two?

The protein pro

SKI. LIFT. SNACK. GYM. EAT. SLEEP. REPEAT. Ever conscious of the delicate balance of protein your body craves, you always make sure to top up with your favourite protein bar on the hill.

The bag-o-baguettes

Overzealous snowboard shop assistants will bore you with technical jargon and the latest trendy materials, when all you really want to say is “yeah, but will it fit a baguette in the pockets?”.

Why we love snowboard lessons in Avoriaz

Learning to snowboard demands a variety of terrain, ranging from gently sloping green runs for beginners, to more challenging pistes for more advanced riders to enjoy. Fortunately, Avoriaz has everything a snowboarder needs from their very first lesson, right up to competitive snowpark riding.

The Burton Stash provides limitless creative opportunity for those looking to take their freestyle snowboarding to the next level, whilst the wide, long pistes in the Lindarets bowl provide fun side-hits, groomed pistes for carving, and quiet spots to link turns for the first time.

Avoriaz, an architects’ masterplan

For those of you looking for something a little different to the quaint french village vibe, make your next winter holiday a trip to Avoriaz. There really is nothing like the experience of the sun setting through the Morzine valley, behind the stunning shapes and outlines of Avoriaz’s chic buildings there really is no going back.

Unique amongst the many purpose built french ski resorts of the 1960s, Avoriaz was designed by architects Jacques Labro, Jeans-Jacques Orzoni and Jean-Marc Roques with acute angles and red cedar wood cladding to resemble the very mountains that surround them. The result is breathtaking, and looks like an extension of the sunny shelf on which the buildings rest.

Snowboard lessons in Avoriaz

We always set our snowboard lesson meeting point at the top of the very accessible Prodains Gondola, with snowboard lessons beginning in the morning, mid-morning, and afternoon.

Getting to the Prodains Gondola is easy peasy, whether you’re staying Avoriaz itself, Morzine, or Les Gets. With free, regular bus shuttles throughout the resorts, it’s usually just a quick bus ride and a swift whisk away up the alpine cliffs, with beautiful views to get your stoked.

Many of you may know of the famous Folie Douce that is situated in various resorts throughout the French Alps. This winter it will be in the resort of Avoriaz. The introduction of the Folie Douce will no doubt bring a much needed apres-ski to Avoriaz.

There will be live music between 2pm and 6:30pm each day. Tables to dance on will be an obvious attraction and its situated in a sunny spot! No more cold apres ski drinks! woohoo.

Find below a video of what we expect to hit Avoriaz and Morzine this coming winter:

New developments have been planned and finalised by the committee of Morzine Avoriaz. This will extend the lift system and give access to all resorts allowing you to travel between Morzine Avoriaz without the need for a bus. There will also be 500 additional parking spaces in the centre of Morzine which will no doubt attract more weekend warriors to the slopes. We are excited about this development as during school holidays the slopes can get busy and with this new lift system in Morzine and Avoriaz it will spread tourists out across the region.

Below is a video courtesy of Mountain Heaven showing a visual representation of what the new lift system will look like before it is built.

Morzine will be hosting a key stage of the rally therefore set your shutter speed to max to catch a photo of these fast rally cars racing around the mountains.
